A floatation system for waste water treatment has a multi stage design, preferably a two stage design with cleaned water from one stage fed into the upper stage via a rising main. The cleaning effect is improved by introducing recycled water as well as air bubbles. The system is fitted with waste water inlet, slurry outlet and cleaned water outlet and requires less cleaning maintenance than existing systems.
