Drive engine i.e. internal combustion engine, operating method for motor vehicle, involves providing sail torque or drag torque as drive torque in presence of minimum torque requirements, and operating drive engine according to drive torque
The method involves setting drive torque requirement and brake torque requirement. Sail torque or drag torque is provided as drive torque in the presence of minimum drive torque requirement and minimum brake torque requirement, where the drag torque corresponds to minimum drive torque of a drive engine (2) i.e. internal combustion engine, and the sail torque represents another drive torque that is greater than the drag torque. Vehicle speed is maintained or a motor vehicle is decelerated with the latter drive torque. The drive engine is operated according to the former drive torque. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for operating a drive engine of an engine system for a motor vehicle, comprising a controller (2) a computer program having a set of instructions to perform a method for operating a drive engine of an engine system for a motor vehicle.
