The device (1) has a computing unit (4), where steering angle and rotor angle of a servo motor is supplied to the computing unit. A filter unit (5) is attached to the computing unit for producing a preprocessed virtual torque signal. The preprocessed virtual torque signal is supplied to an evaluation and control unit (3) which generates a torque signal for controlling the servo motor by algorithm for two-out-three-determination. The computing unit and/or the filter unit are integrated in the evaluation and control unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting torque in an electromechanical steering system.
