Milling tool for cutting workpiece, has recesses including contact surface, where part of contact surface is harder than supporting body and hardness of part of contact surface is about specified Rockwell hardness
The tool has a supporting body (2) including recesses (4), which are axially and/or radially opened outside. A cutting element (6) is fastened in each recess, and axially and radially projects over the supporting body. The cutting element with a rear surface is pressed against a contact surface (8) formed in the recesses. A part of the contact surface is harder than the supporting body, where hardness of the part of the contact surface is about 50 Rockwell hardness. The supporting body is coated with hard material. The contact surface is formed at a supporting plate (16). The cutting element is made up of material such as high speed steel, hard steel, ceramic material, cermet or diamond.
