The candle shaped lamp (10) has a hollow candle shaped base body (12) i.e. hollow cylinder (14), for receiving a voltage source i.e. round cell (22). A cover (30) accommodates a LED (34), a direct current converter (36) and a switch. The cover is designed as a disk (32), where the lamp is switched on and switched off by rotating the disk. A busbar (20) guides from a base (16) of the base body to a front surface (14a) of the cylinder. Terminal lugs (38) are arranged at the disk and connected with the converter. A brightness level of the LED is adjusted in different rotary positions of the disk.
