The vehicle seat (2) has a backrest (6) deviating around a drag axis, which comprises two lateral locking units (24), which are brought from a closed position, in which the backrest is arrested in a deviating position, into an open position, in which the backrest is deviated. The locking units are coupled with one another by a coupling unit, such that these are brought in closed position and open position. The coupling unit is arranged outside the backrest.
