The high-strength, cold formable steel comprises carbon (0.1-0.6 wt.%), manganese (15-26 wt.%), aluminum (0.60-1.8 wt.%), silicon (0.60-1.8 wt.%), microalloyed elements (0.05-0.5 wt.%) such as vanadium and niobium, titanium (0.5 wt.%), sulfur (0.03 wt.%), phosphorus (0.08 wt.%), nitrogen (0.0030-0.0080 wt.%), molybdenum (2 wt.%), chromium (8 wt.%), boron (0.01 wt.%), nickel (8 wt.%), copper (5 wt.%) and residues of iron and unavoidable impurities. The total content of aluminum and silicon is 1.8-2.5 wt.%. The niobium content is 0.1-0.3 wt.%. The tensile strength of the steel is 800 MPa. An independent claim is included for a method for the production of steel flat product.
