The method involves causing the flow of air, the particle or pollen content of which is desired to be measured, over a piezoelectric element set into resonance in a longitudinal or transverse mode, thus inducing an impact with said particles and thus capable of measuring the variation in frequency, impedance, or current of the signal, induced by the kinetic energy of said impact. Preferably, the air is caused to flow between two piezoelectric elements placed sufficiently close together such that the impact of a piezoelectric element on the particles leads to the discharge of the particles to the second piezoelectric element, doing likewise and so forth, such that there is thus an increased number of impacts making it possible to amplify the kinetic energy absorbed by the piezoelectric elements, thus enabling an amplification of the variation in frequency, impedance, or current of the produced signal. A first use is a customized warning device wearable on the wrist or belt to warn people with delicate physical conditions of the presence of a peak in particle or pollen levels.
