A complex comprising an HLA class I molecule and attaching meansfor selectively attaching the HLA class I molecule to a target cell isdisclosed,and a method is provided for producing or enhancing an immunologicalresponse against a target cell, by attaching said complex to the target cell.Where the target cell is a diseased, foreign or malignant cell, this methodmaybe used to promote the lysis of the target cell by T cells in the immunesystem.Where the target cell is an antigen presenting cell, this method may be usedto promote the proliferation of specific T cell clones. The invention is ofpotential use in the prevention and treatment of malignant diseases includingcancer and leukaemia, infectious diseases including viral infections suchas HIV, bacterial infections including tuberculosis, and parasitic infectionsincluding malaria.
