Medical instrument e.g. catheter, for use in e.g. human body, has instrument body with surface that comes in contact with human or animal body, where body is provided with immobilized active magnetic resonance marker
The instrument has an instrument body with a surface (2) that comes in contact with human or animal body. The instrument body is provided with an immobilized active magnetic resonance (MR) marker (3), where the instrument has no electrically conductive sections and is made of non-ferromagnetic material. The MR marker is immobilized in the surface region by chelate complexes. The complexes are covalently bonded to the instrument body or are embedded in a swellable coating. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting a medical instrument in human or animal body.
