The invention relates to means of radio-physics for investigation of ionospheric predictors of earthquakes. Method for short-term reveal of powerful earthquake that is coming includes measurement of values of electronic concentration of layer F of ionosphere by means of ion probe, comparison of measured values of electronic concentrations with background values, making decision on future earthquake at reveal of area with increased value of electronic concentration. By means of three ion probes that are placed in tops of equilateral triangle at distance 141 km one from another on earth one performs measurement of coefficient of auto-correlation of radar signal reflected from layer F of ionosphere, measurement of value of coefficient of autocorrelation of radar signal is collected for time interval T, by values of coefficient of autocorrelation collected for radar signal from each of ion probes that are included to system of short-term reveal of powerful earthquake that is coming one calculates pair inter-ion probe correlation coefficients, for auto-correlation coefficients of radar signal of ion probes one calculates arithmetical average value of squares of correlation coefficients, at arithmetical average of correlation coefficient value exceeded by 0.8 one makes conclusion on reveal of future earthquake that is coming. The invention increases effectiveness of prediction of future earthquake.
