Design optimization processes can be used to design concrete mixtures having optimized properties including desired mechanical strength and laying at minimal cost. Design optimization processes use a computer-implemented process that is capable of designing and virtually testing millions of hypothetical concrete compositions using mathematical algorithms that interrelate various variables that affect mechanical strength, laying, and others. desired aspects. The design optimization procedure uses a constant (or factor) K within the Feret equation of mechanical strength that varies (eg logarithmically) with the mechanical strength of concrete for any given set of raw material inputs and processing equipment.
