PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of memory requirements and calculation amount in estimation of parameters of an object in an image.;SOLUTION: A parameter estimation device comprises; a training image data input section 101; a feature extraction section 102 which extracts features of an object contained in image data; a subspace creation section 103 which creates a subspace of an object by primary component analysis; a parameter estimation function creation section 104 which creates a parameter estimation function; a subspace projection section 109 which projects on subspaces of every object the amount of features extracted from the image data input in the object image data input section 107 by the feature extraction section 108; a parameter estimation section 110 which estimates parameters, based on the parameter estimation function; and an output section 111 which outputs estimation results. The parameter estimation function creation section 104 comprises; an optimization computing section which solves an optimization problem which defines the support vector regression; and a coefficient computing section which computes all coefficients to be newly set when a regression expression is modified so as not to depend on the number of the support vectors.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
