PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frequency diversity receiver for preventing deterioration in reception performance when the reception state of a branch is deteriorated and the branch reaches a frame protection state. PSOLUTION: The frequency diversity receiver in a digital broadcast receiver includes: a composite section for compositing received data in each branch; and a branch control section for controlling decision of the branch to be a composite object in the composite section on the basis of the frame protection state when the one branch reaches the frame protection state. The branch control section decides to exclude the branch in the frame protection state from the composite object or discriminates whether or not the frame protection state is an error, and decides the branch to be the composite object when the frame protection state is the error.
