PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new nanoparticles having a positive contrast function for MRI and a method for producing the same, and to further provide new nanoparticles having two functions of near-infrared fluorescence and magnetic resonance imaging ability. PSOLUTION: The nanoparticles having a positive contrast agent function for MRI are obtained by using YAG nanoparticles having a garnet structure as a matrix and allowing gadolinium (Gd) to exist locally on surfaces thereof. A probe having two functions of near-infrared fluorescence and magnetic resonance imaging ability can be obtained by converting the YAG nanoparticles as a matrix to a solid solution doped with a rare earth metal such as YbSP3+/SP.
