PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical power meter capable of readily measuring an intensity of a light to be measured in a wide range, from a low intensity to a high intensity.;SOLUTION: This optical power meter includes a beam splitter 2, that divides a light L to be measured into distributed lights L1, L2 and emits the distributed lights L1, L2 so as to allow the distributed light L2 to have a distribution intensity rate greater than that of the distributed light L1; a light-receiving element 3 that receives the distributed light L1 emitted from the beam splitter 2; a light-receiving element 4, that receives the distributed light L2 emitted from the beam splitter 2; a shutter device 5, that can regulate the distributed light L2 to be received to be received by the light-receiving element 4, and a control section 6 that controls the shutter device 5, on the basis of the intensities of the distributed lights L1, L2, respectively, received by the light-receiving elements 3, 4. The control section 6 calculates the intensity of the distributed light L2, on the basis of the intensity of the distributed light L1 and the distribution intensity rate and calculates the intensity of the light L to be measured and outputs it, by dividing the cases into case where the calculated intensity is equal to or higher than the allowed limiting intensity of the light-receiving element 4, and a case where it is lower than the allowable limit intensity of the light-receiving element 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
