PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining scour around a bridge pier and a system for evaluating the soundness which can reduce the time required for evaluating the soundness of a bridge pier base, and to enable safe operation of trains, when river levels rise.;SOLUTION: Data on micro-motions representing vibration frequencies of the bridge pier B2, when water level rises, is detected by measurement time lengths at which coefficients of variations, computed from the differences between vibration frequencies and the natural frequency of the bridge pier B2 obtained previously become small, while determining as the measurement range a range, where the coefficients of the variation computed from the differences between the vibration frequencies and the natural frequency of the bridge pier B2 otained previously become small.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
