PSOLUTION: This seat material for a laser clad valve seat is arranged on a valve seat forming site 2 of a cylinder head 1. The seat material 9 includes a ring part 9A formed of metal powder, a laser irradiation starting part 9B formed with a cutout portion 10 in part of the ring part 9A, and a laser irradiation terminal end part 9C rising from the ring part 9A above the laser irradiation starting part 9B.
