PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing the radioactivity of reactor water which satisfactorily converts the nickel dissolved in reactor water to ferrite on the surface of fuel rods without using any iron ions or iron oxides and reduces the radioactivity of the reactor water, and also to provide a nuclear power plant. PSOLUTION: As to the method for reducing the radioactivity of the reactor water, organic acid iron is used as iron poured into the reactor water in the method for reducing the radioactivity of the reactor water to remove radionuclides from the reactor water by pouring iron into the reactor water of a nuclear power plant 100 (Fig.1) to convert radioactive ions generated in a core C to ferrite on the surface of the fuel rods.
