The method involves deriving an oxygen rich fluid in a low pressure column (17), and sending the oxygen rich fluid to an exchange line (11). A fluid issued from a cryogenic distillation is divided into two parts, where one part of fluid is sent to a cooling turbine (47). Other part of the fluid is reheated by a reheating unit, and the reheated part of fluid is sent to a hot turbine (147), where inlet temperature of the turbine (147) is higher than an inlet temperature of the turbine (47). A part of refrigerating capacity of the turbines is used by a cooling compressor (51). An independent claim is also included for a device for separating air.
