Signal transmission performance predicting method for communication system, involves repeating determination of signal-to-noise ratio value, obtention of compressed value and determination of reliability level by considering preceding level
The method involves determining values of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) relative to a transmission channel based on an estimation of the channel. A compressed SNR value is obtained by compressing the SNR values. A reliability level relative to signal transmission to be performed via the channel is determined based on the compressed value using stored functions that represent signal decoding characteristics. Determination of the SNR values, obtention of the compressed value and the determination of the reliability level are repeated for integer number of times by considering the preceding level. The transmission channel is an uplink transmission channel or a downlink transmission channel. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a receiver in a communication network, comprising a compression unit (2) a computer program in a receiver, comprising a set of instructions for performing a signal transmission performance predicting method (3) a computer readable recording medium comprising a set of instructions for performing a signal transmission performance predicting method.
