The process for treating a liquid and semi-liquid effluent such as hog manure, comprises collecting the liquid effluent (9) in a concentrator (6) and then transporting into dry matter, applying an air stream to the concentrator through the moving belt for drying the effluent until a concentrated effluent (35-45%) is obtained with a dry matter content of 4-6 times greater than the liquid effluent, and transferring the concentrated effluent to a drying station (7) comprising a horizontal openwork conveyor. The concentrator comprises a tank for storing the liquid effluent. The process for treating a liquid and semi-liquid effluent such as hog manure, comprises collecting the liquid effluent (9) in a concentrator (6) and then transporting into dry matter, applying an air stream to the concentrator through the moving belt for drying the effluent until a concentrated effluent (35-45%) is obtained with a dry matter content of 4-6 times greater than the liquid effluent, and transferring the concentrated effluent to a drying station (7) comprising a horizontal openwork conveyor. The concentrator comprises a tank for storing the liquid effluent, and an openwork conveyor belt (12) that is vertically arranged. The belt has a low-end immersed in the liquid effluent. The effluent is initially mixed to a dry absorbent. A fraction of the dried mixture obtained at the outlet of drying station constitutes the dry absorbent. The air used for drying is obtained from a space in which animals are brought up. Independent claims are included for: (1) a dry effluent; and (2) an installation for treating a liquid and semi-liquid effluent such as manure.
