The device has a trap provided with upper, intermediate and lower modules, where the upper module has a removable cover (2) closing the trap. The upper module has a support on which food is placed to attract rats e.g. field rats. The intermediate module has an articulated arm with a tilting system and a counterweight that are maintained by respective magnets. The lower module allows the rats to leave the trap via a path to reach a waiting cage to keep the rats away from a capturing place. The intermediate and the lower modules have a low-density wooden rod (23) at their exterior.
