Cartesian-positioning method for e.g. eddy current probe in aircraft, involves determining instantaneous Cartesian position of object in Cartesian reference in real time by digital analyzing device that analyzes image acquired by camera
The method involves placing a non-destructive control object e.g. eddy current probe (O), on a calibrated plane surface (S) or surface portion of a wing of an aircraft, where the object is provided with two light emitting or reflecting elements i.e. pellets (10). Displacement of the object on the surface is monitored by a video camera (2) i.e. infrared diode camera. An instantaneous Cartesian position of the object in a Cartesian reference is determined in real time by a digital analyzing device i.e. computer (4), that analyzes an image acquired by the camera. An independent claim is also included for a Cartesian-positioning system comprising a video image acquisition device.
