Aircraft e.g. cargo aircraft, piloting method, involves implementing secondary phase such that current position is found in engagement zone, and piloting aircraft based on piloting mode for capturing and following profile in phase
The method involves piloting an aircraft along a piloting mode allowing to crew of the aircraft of capturing control of a vertical profile in a primary phase, and determining an engagement zone depending the profile by a determining unit (10). A current position of the aircraft is determined. The current position is compared with the engagement zone. A secondary phase is implemented such that the current position is found in the engagement zone. The aircraft is piloted by a piloting unit (3) based on the piloting mode for capturing and following the profile in the secondary phase. An independent claim is also included for a device for piloting an aircraft e.g. cargo aircraft, in a manner to capture and follow a vertical profile of a flight plan.
