PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact zoom lens for use in a video camera, a digital still camera, a lens-integrated type camera, etc., which is suitable for high-speed AF and has high image-forming performance, and an imaging apparatus using the zoom lens system.;SOLUTION: The zoom lens system characterized in that it includes a positive 1st lens group, a negative 2nd lens group, a positive 3rd lens group, a negative 4th lens group, a positive 5th lens group, and a negative 6th lens group in order from an object side, varies in power by varying gaps of the lens groups, satisfies conditional expressions (1) DW(1-2)DT(1-2), (2) DW(2-3)DT(2-3), (3) DW(3-4)DT(3-4), (4) DW(4-5)DT(4-5), and (5) DW(5-6)DT(5-6), wherein DW(i-j) is an inter-group gap between an (i)th lens group and a (j)th lens group at a wide-angle end during infinite-distance photography and DT(i-j) is an inter-group gap between the (i)th lens group and (j)th lens group at a telephoto end during the infinite-distance photography, and further performs focusing by moving the 4th lens group along the optical axis.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
