The unit (17) has an evaluation unit (72) determining an own vibration load, where residual life span of the control unit is determined by the evaluation unit under consideration of the own vibration load. The control unit has an acceleration sensor (71), which is connected with the evaluation unit, for determining the own vibration load. The acceleration sensor is arranged on a printed circuit board (43) of the unit (17). The acceleration sensor is arranged at a housing of the unit (17). A memory (73) is connected with the evaluation unit, where the memory stores the vibration load. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a vibration load of a hydrostatic piston engine.
