Process for positioning a robot guided tool (12), especially a tool for sealing a seam region of a vehicle body involving:guideing the tool via the robot to a predetermined reference point (50), and if the reference point fails to correspond to the required pre-defined position on the vehicle body part (52), the tool is post-positioned by means of a decoupling element which can move at least in the spatial direction (sic). An independent claim is included for a decoupling element for positioning a robot guided tool.
