Safety element e.g. long-lasting economical anti-copy device strip, attachment method for forming safety or value document e.g. banknote, involves irradiating UV rays on safety elements of foils arranged on web
The method involves coating strip-like continuous foils (12) with a radiation cross-linkable layer and an adhesive layer, and merging the coated continuous foils with a substrate web (14) in movement along a continuous longitudinal direction of the web and the foils. UV rays are irradiated on safety elements of the foils arranged on the web with elongated UV emitters (24) aligned with longitudinal axes (26) parallel to a movement direction (28) of the web, where each emitter is overlapped with the corresponding foil to cross-link radiation cross-linkable components of the cross-linkable layer. The substrate web is formed by a paper web or a plastic web. The radiation cross-linkable layer is selected form a group comprising a primer layer, a color layer, and a protective varnish layer. The UV emitter comprises a mercury steam emitter or a metal halide emitter. An independent claim is also included for a device for parallel attachment of safety elements arranged on strip-like continuous foils on a substrate web.
