Hydrocarbon mixture (I) comprises linear hydrocarbons having 11 carbon atoms and 13 carbon atoms, where the sum of hydrocarbons having 11 and 13 carbon atoms is = 60 wt.%. An independent claim is included for a cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical preparation comprising 0.1- 80 wt.% of (I).
