N-Azinyl-N'-pyridylsulfonyl-urea compounds (I) and their salts are new. N-Azinyl-N'-pyridylsulfonyl-urea compounds of formula (I) and their salts are new. V 1, W 1, X, Y 1N or C (both optionally substituted by R 8); A : N or CR 9; R 9H (preferred), alkyl, halo or haloalkyl; R 1H, alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxyalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aralkyl or aryl; R 2, R 3alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkyl amino or dialkylamino (all optionally halo substituted), H or halo; R 4-R 7H, halo, CN, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl or dialkylaminocarbonyl (where R 4and R6, and/or R 5and R 7is an alkylidene group optionally interrupted by O or S); R 8H, halo, CN, thiocyanato, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, alkyl amino, dialkylamino, alkyl carbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl, or dialkylaminocarbonyl; and Q : O or S. Where one of the residue of V 1, W 1, X, Y 1is N and the remaining residues are C. Independent claims are included for: (1) a (4,5-dihydroisoxazol-3-yl) sulfonamide compound of formula (II); (2) a (4,5-dihydroisoxazol-3-yl) sulfonic acid halide compound of formula (VIII); (3) a (4,5-dihydroisoxazol-3-yl) halide compound of formula (XI); (4) a (4,5-dihydroisoxazol-3-yl) thiol compound of formula (X); and (5) the preparation of (I). Hal : halogen atom. [Image] [Image] [Image] ACTIVITY : Herbicide; Plant Growth Regulant. The herbicidal activity of (I) was tested against Alopecurus myosuroides. The results showed that N-[(4-chloro-6-methoxy-pyrimidin-2-yl)carbamoyl]-3-(4,5-dihydroisoxazol-3-yl)-pyridin-2-sulfonamide exhibited an aborticide effectof 100%. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
