The substance i.e. spherical bead (100), has a trap material (104) i.e. core, for accommodating a macromolecular component (108) e.g. DNA, of a sample (102). A cover (106) has a membrane function, and encloses the trap material in a complete manner and forms a closed surface. The cover is permeable for the components of the sample with a molecular volume below a level, and impermeable for the components of the sample with the molecular volume above a level. The cover is porous and semi-permeable, and consists of polyvinyl alcohol. The substance is formed as a bulk good. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an analyzer for analyzing the sample (2) a method for preparing the sample.
