The method for drying sewage sludge, comprises pre-drying the drained sewage sludge in a conveying screw (3), discontinuously or continuously supplying moist sewage sludge (drying degree of 12%-35%) to a drum mixer (2) through an inlet, horizontally and radially moving the sewage sludge by the drum rotation and spiral plate mounted in the drum and optimally contacting with warm air (15) injected through an inlet for 5-480 seconds. The rotation takes place for 3-480 minutes while maintaining of the injecting warm air. The after-drying is carried out in a hermetically sealed container. The method for drying sewage sludge, comprises pre-drying the drained sewage sludge in a conveying screw (3), discontinuously or continuously supplying moist sewage sludge (drying degree of 12%-35%) to a drum mixer (2) through an inlet, horizontally and radially moving the sewage sludge by the drum rotation and spiral plate mounted in the drum and optimally contacting with warm air (15) injected through an inlet for 5-480 seconds. The after-drying is carried out in a hermetically sealed container, where the hot-air (12) and circulating air (25) flow into the container from above or below. In the pre-drying, the hot-air and circulating air are introduced through air lines into the lower opening of the conveying screw and contacted with the drained sewage sludge grains, so that the surface of the grains is dried. The weight is measured via pressure sensors during the emptying and after-drying phase. The TR-content (drying degree) is determined. During the after-drying phase, the sewage sludge is dried in the closed container to 95% TR-content and is used additionally as filter. The air inlet flows from top to bottom and/or from bottom to top during the after-drying phase depending upon sewage sludge characteristics.
