The method involves controlling feed motion of a drilling tool (2) depending on flow rate and/or flow velocity of cooling lubricant (5). The feed motion is reduced if the flow rate and/or flow velocity of the lubricant falls below a reference value. Torque of the drilling tool is analyzed as an additional control variable along with the flow rate and/or flow velocity of the lubricant. The feed motion is stopped if the feed motion falls below a preset value during insufficient evacuation of the drilling due to overloading. An independent claim is also included for a drilling device with a cooling lubricant circuit for a deep drilling.
