Core/shell-particle comprising a core of titanium(IV) (Ti(IV))-oxide and a shell of silicon/oxygen/chlorine compound, is claimed, where: the Ti(IV) oxide is in the anatas modification; the core diameter to the thickness of the shell is arbitrary; and the shell has a reactive surface and the reactivity is caused by silicon/oxygen/chlorine compound, which allows for substitution through another, preferably organic functional group, thus altering the surface properties of the particle in a simple manner. An independent claim is included for a method for preparing the core/shell particle or multitude of core/shell particles, comprising reacting a mixture of titanium chloride vapor with oxygen and downstream of a suitable gaseous silicon/chlorine compound, preferably silicon tetrachloride, or suitable gaseous silicon/oxygen/chlorine-compound under conditions that the reaction of the substance together enables and causes the emerging reaction product to contain more than 99 atom% of titanium, silicon, chlorine and oxygen.
