The supporting surface (1) for lying and/or sitting furniture has a deformable section (1b) which is designed in such a way that the displacement movement of the support arm (2a) and the rotational movement in the rotary joint (2b) are synchronized by the deformable section. The displacement movement of the support arm and the rotational movement in the rotary joint inter-coupled only by the deformable section. The support arm is coupled to the deformable section only via the rotary joint.
