The method involves subsequently testing an electric storage (32) i.e. rechargeable battery (30), in an operating point in which sensitivity of a measurable characteristic of an aging state of the storage is high. The characteristic is measured, and the storage is reproduced in the point by a model. The measured characteristic is compared with corresponding characteristic of the storage at the point of the model, and deviation of the characteristics is determined. An aging parameter of the model is adjusted, and the deviation of the characteristics is minimized. An independent claim is also included for a device for performing a method for changing a model of an electric storage for a vehicle.
