The endoscope has an elongated shaft (1) passed through image guides and fiber optic bundles (7). A window (6) for closing the image guides and an end surface (8) of the fiber optic bundles are arranged adjacent to each other in a distal front surface of the shaft. Fibers of the fiber optic bundles are heated with the window. The heated fibers are terminated in a separate roughened partial area of the end surface of the fiber optic bundles. The roughened partial area is arranged adjacent to the window.
