The airbag has two side walls (20,30) surrounding a gas chamber, which comprises an inner surface (22,32) and an outer surface (25,35). The two side walls are connected with each other along the internal connecting sections on a profiling of the airbag or a partitioning of the gas chamber. The two side walls are folded in the connecting section in a Z-shaped manner. A section of the inner surface of the former side wall is adhered or welded with another section of another inner surface of the latter side wall. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing an airbag.
