The device (1) has a heating plate (2) and a cooling plate (4), each having a temperature sensor (3) for measuring temperature of the heating and cooling plates. The heating plate and the cooling plate are arranged opposite to each other in a test chamber (7). The heating plate is heated in a controlled manner, to produce stationary heat flow between the heating and cooling plates. A sample retainer (15) arranged between the heating plate and the cooling plate, retains a sample (5) in the test chamber in such a manner that the sample is isolated against thermal conduction. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining thermal resistance of a sample.
