The method involves outputting a measuring signal based on a value of physical or chemical parameters by using a transducer (3) of a sensor (1). A transmission function of the transducer is transformed between actual values of the parameters and the measuring signal, so that the sensor can be repeatedly calibrated and/or adjusted. A data storage unit (7) is attached to the sensor. Calibration data from multiple calibrations is stored in the data storage. A microprocessor (6) is attached to the sensor, where the microprocessor monitors a storage location available for the calibration data.
