The method involves storing current signals for body inclination as a zero-point in a controller (11) to automatically adjust a headlight-range based on a trigger command. Successful storage of the zero-point with an acknowledgment signal observable from outside of a motor vehicle headlight (1) is confirmed, and the headlight is mechanically adjusted. The controller is subjected with given combination of sequential signals i.e. headlight main beam, as the command to a normal operation of the headlight. The storage of the zero-point is confirmed as the acknowledgment signal by the operation. An independent claim is also included for a controller for controlling or regulating headlight-range adjustment of a motor vehicle.
