The vehicle (10) has a tailgate (12) pivotably supported in a region of a rear roof edge (14) of the vehicle. A rear window (22) is provided with a tailboard (24), which is movable between a collapsed resting position and an expanded transport position. The tailboard has a carrier structure e.g. bicycle carrier, at its inner side for a payload e.g. bicycle. A tilting and lowering device is provided for tilting the payload in a direction averting the tailgate, and for lowering the payload based on the transport position of the tailboard.
