The method involves monitoring and quantifying relative earth resistances of a shield electrode (A1) and counter electrodes (B, C) by successive resistance measurements between two electrode groups. Insulation conditions between the shield electrode and measuring electrodes (A0) are tested by three-point measurements. The shield electrode and the measuring electrodes are utilized for frequency-dependent determination indicative of formation resistances for areas of the measuring electrodes or electrode groups based on analysis of measuring circuit resistances at the counter electrodes. An independent claim is also included for a measuring device comprising a geoelectrical apparatus.
