FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: method includes cathode protection of samples from pipe steel, change of inner sample stress and metallographic analysis of pipe steel microstructure, additionally determined is increase of hydrogen pressure in near-surface layer of samples ΔPH2 in atm/24 hours, taking into account operation pressure of transported product in pipelines on tearing force from hydrogen pressure and cathode protection mode, critical hydrogen pressure in near-surface layer of PH2 samples in atm is determined taking into account operation pressure of transported product in pipelines, after which duration of period in years before formation of stress-corrosion cracks is determined by formula PH2/365*ΔPH2, where 365 is number of days (24 hour periods).;EFFECT: increasing accuracy of predicting pipeline tears taking into account reduction of duration of stress-corrosion cracks period.;1 tbl, 2 dwg, 1 ex
