In an automatic recording mode, an action sensor (6) detects an acceleration in accordance with a movement of a user (9) in a three-dimensional space and displays, on an LCD (35) mounted on the action sensor (6), and records a number of steps calculated based on the detected acceleration. In a manual recording mode, the action sensor (6) records activity information and body information entered by the user (9). In a communicating mode, the action sensor (6) transmits these pieces of information recorded in the automatic and manual recording modes to a cartridge (4), which then visualizes these pieces of information. In the communicating mode, the action sensor (6) inputs the acceleration information to the cartridge (4) in real time and cooperates with the cartridge (4) to display an image on a television monitor (5), thereby providing various contents to the user (9).
