The invention relates to a reed (2), for a loom, in which profiled sheets (3, 4) form a guide channel (13), for a transport medium and weft threads (14), whereby the guide channel is provided with sequentially alternating sections (19, 20) over at least a part of the length thereof, by means of the arrangement of the sheets, which have a greater or lesser throughput for transport medium, flowing out of the guide channel (13) between the sheets (3, 4).
