A method for computating the economic weight coefficient to estimate the breeding value in pigs according to the character backfat thickness" is based on the use of regression analysis. When a live weight of animals amounts to , the backfat thickness is measured and the animal is slaughtered. The further deboning of the right half carcass is carried out and the regression coefficient is determined, according to which feed saving based on reducing the fat storage in a carcass is forecasted. In addition, the monetary value of said saving is estimated.
