The invention relates to a process for recovering uranium from acid uranium-bearing leach solutions. According to the invention, the process consists in selectively adsorbing the uranium from acid uranium-bearing leach solution on a highly basic anionic ion exchange resin; after the adsorption, the uranium is eluated with a solution of 0.1N HNO3 and 0.9 N NH4 and the resulting uranium-bearing eluate is carbonated with sodium carbonate, at a pH = 8.5, when the impurifying metals precipitate as hydroxides and the uranium from the purified uranium-bearing eluate is precipitated with NaOH as sodium diuranate, which is filtered, washed and dried to a content of H2O lower than 5%.
