Bulky plants which can grow in salty conditions, especially swamp ragwort (Senecio congestus), are cultivated in silty, marshy areas. These plants are harvested to provide a cellulose-rich, naturally renewable raw material for making building materials. The fields (1) are crisscrossed by platforms (2) which provide access for a harvesting machine (3). The enclosed plots of land can be used as fish ponds. Beehives (10) are placed on top of the platforms.
